Wishing on a star

‘Woah, did you see that one?’

‘See what?’

‘That shooting star.’

‘I was resting my eyes.’

‘It started up over there and zipped across to the hedge line.’ Emma lifted up her arm and traced the arc.

‘Did you make a wish?’

‘Yes.’

‘And?’

‘If I tell you, I’ll jinx it.  Wouldn’t it be cool to travel through outer space?’

‘So you wished to be an astronaut?’

‘Something closer to home.’

‘Like a mosquito net?  We’re getting eaten alive.’

‘Look, there’s a satellite.’  She pointed at a slow moving silver dot.

‘My mechanical equivalent; endlessly orbiting you.’

‘I wish.’

A drabble is a story of exactly 100 words.

I like the way you use dialogue to set this one up, Rob.
